Η Ασλί Ερντογάν πάντα εξορισμένη, η δίκη της διαρκώς αναβάλλεται - ήδη τρία χρόνια
ASLI ERDOGAN: AN UNPRECEDENTED MOBILIZATION. In Istanbul, the trial of Asli Erdogan, as well as that of eight other Turkish intellectuals, has just begun. Since her arrest on the night of 16-17 August, mobilization in Turkey and abroad to demand the release of Asli Erdogan has been considerable. Her mother, her friends, her publishers and editors as well as her translators were immediately mobilized in the third week of August. Several petitions have collected tens of thousands of signatures. Support committees were formed worldwide in September. The media, professional organizations, and public authorities took over throughout the months of October, November and December. Solidarity readings were organized in bookshops and in public places all over the world. This unprecedented mobilization in the history of literature speaks volumes: it is a demonstration of support for a remarkable author, an activist committed to essential causes, a demonstration of support for a humanist, but also of the attachment of the citizens of the world to free speech everywhere, because freedom of speech is a common good, one of the pillars of democracy. As a literary agent of Asli Erdogan, we believe that our mission far outreaches the organization of the publication of her books; and to ensure that an author whom we represent can practice her work freely is a moral duty. This is why we have taken an active part in this mobilization. We now await the court verdict before whom Asli Erdogan appears, hoping that the court will hear those voices who have risen.
