Yorgos Kyriakopoulos was born in Athens in 1958. He studied Law and Government in Athens and London. Having worked exclusively in business, he has maintained a strictly private world in which research on Greek traditional pottery coexists with his love for photography, writing, food and wine, friends, politics, architecture, history, archaeology and Athens.
Since 2010, he has been systematically photographing the ruined houses and farmsteads of the Aegean. This eleven-year journey through thirty islands is presented here in around four hundred photographs, organized into twenty-two themed chapters that explore their background and point of view.
The Archaeology of Yesterday is his second book.
It was preceded by the collection of short stories entitled The great-great-granddaughter of Arapina and other stories (Hestia, 2017), which won the prestigious State Literary Prize for Short Stories and Novellas in 2018.
Forthcoming The Summary (Hestia, 2021), will be his first novel.
